Arthritis was just starting to really take over in my body. I had been dealing with it in my knees for several years, but it was taking hold in my shoulders, low back, neck and hips. I had been without Chiropractic care for about 18 months and the care I had been getting was less than adequate and was costing me a small fortune even though I had insurance to cover all but the co-pay. I was “living” on ibuprofen.

I could barely walk up stairs. I live in a split level house and could only make the trip up the stairs a couple times a day. I couldn’t lift anything over 5 or 6 pounds because the pain in my shoulder joints would make me almost drop it. I had major muscle tension in my back and shoulder blade area that caused horrible headaches. I woke up one morning with a “frozen shoulder”. I couldn’t bend over to pick things up off the floor because my low back would go into stabbing pain. Muscles were cramping all over my body just trying to get out of bed and dressed in the morning. I walked with a limp and had to use a cane for balance. Some days just getting in and out of the car would put me in tears.

Since starting care with Back in Motion, following the schedule Dr. Soran set out for my appointments and following his recommendations for what I can do for myself between appointments, which includes bi-weekly massage and stretching gently, my pain levels have dropped drastically and my joint mobility is so much better.

I still deal with the pain, but it’s so much less now. Joint movement, getting in and out of bed, reaching for something on the top shelf of the kitchen cabinet, getting dressed, bending over to feed my cats, pain from these used to put me in tears at times.. now, on a scale of 1-10? … Usually a 2, sometimes 3. It does go higher when I do things without paying attention to “not being normal” or overexert by doing things I know I shouldn’t (but it REALLY needs to get done and can’t wait). I can now lift and carry a 10 pound bag of flour from the store shelf to the checkout and to the car. 2 years ago, I would never have even thought of trying it.

I know that time and the arthritis will continue to do it’s “thing” to my body, but I also know that everyone at Back in Motion will be there to help get me through it. I truly owe my daily ability to function to Dr. Soran and Back in Motion. There aren’t enough words or ways to say thank you for all you’ve done for me.
